Haunted Houses

The haunted houses designed by this class were creative, well designed, and very impressive.  The poems that went along with them continued to show everyone's creativity and attention to details.  We had a chance to look at everyone's and then share our poem with our table.  The haunted houses were displayed for all to see at the Pine Glen Halloween Dance.  Everyone did a great job on this assignment!

Homework Writing Paragraph

Your child should have brought home their first weekly writing assignment.  This assignment is meant to be broken down so that they are working on it over the course of the week.  They should be sure they are revising to add great details and vibrant words.  You can work together to edit it before writing their final draft.  If you have any questions about this homework component please feel free to contact me.

Burlington Field Trip

We had a beautiful day touring our town, Burlington.  The Burlington Historical Commission did a wonderful job educating us on the history of our town.  We got to tour the Old Burying Ground, Burlington Museum, and Grand View Farm before enjoying lunch outside at Simond's Park.  Then we got to visit the one room school house - The West School before heading back to Pine Glen.  Thank you to Mr. Naddaff and Mrs. Arsenault for chaperoning on this trip.  Everyone did a great job listening and staying safe!  Be sure to ask your child about what they learned today.

A Great Start

We had a wonderful first month of school!  It is hard to believe that it is already October.  We have been busy in Room 205.  In science we have been learning about Forces & Motion.  We will be moving onto magnetism and how it effects forces.  We will work on designing our own Maglev trains in class.  We have begun to switch for reading.  Everyone has done this with ease and we have enjoyed reading and writing during our ELA block.  In math we continue to learn about multiplication.  This coming month we will be looking at patterns in multiplication. Be sure to practice your addition facts if you are still unsure of some and you may want to begin practicing your multiplication facts.  We will begin our fluency tests after we finished Topic 2.   Thanks to Ms. Fallon we have been mapping our town of Burlington.  After our field trip we will be finishing them by adding in different landmarks.  There are many writer's in Room 205.  I have read and heard so many wonderful stories by the students.  All of this writing is helping them to get their stories down onto paper.  We will now start to work on the mechanics and adding in great details to make our writing exciting for the reader.   Of course, we continue to earn DOJO points and HOOT cards.  As a school we earned a PJ Day and as a class we reached our class goal and had extra recess!  It has been a great start and I am looking forward to the upcoming month.
